How Long Can We Expect Tax Refund IRB?

A white piggy kitten waving happily with wording IRB tax refund.

In this post, I will be sharing how long we can expect to receive a tax refund from IRB (Inland Revenue Board). IRB is locally known as LHDN (Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri).

In July 2014, I read from The Star Online that stated that all tax refunds are processed within 30 days from the e-Filing submission.

For my case, I submitted my 2013 income tax through e-filing on 17 June 2014. I have tax paid in excess due to my monthly tax deduction through PCB (Potongan Cukai Bulanan).

From there, on 8 July 2014, I received the overpaid tax through direct transfer to my bank account.

I calculated and it took them about 21 days to process my 2013 tax refund. Which is within 30 days.

So, what do you think about the time frame of the tax refund?

I would say IRB had done quite a great job to keep their promise. Their efficiency had made many Malaysian smiles.

Lastly, in case you have a problem with your tax refund, read my sharing on 3 ways you can expedite your IRB tax refund.
