In this post, I will be sharing how to check the IRB travel blacklist.
Is your name under the LHDN travel blacklist?
Yesterday, I read from The Star Online that Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (LHDN) or Inland Revenue Board (IRB) is barring tax evaders from leaving the country at the Immigration counter or airport auto-gate.
It looks like now, the IRB has engaged the support from Immigration Department to enforce a travel blacklist for those who didn’t settle their tax accordingly.
I can’t imagine the trouble of being stopped at the immigration counter or auto-gate when we are ready to board the flight somewhere for a nice vacation which we had been waiting for so long.
How to check the LHDN travel blacklist
So, if you suspect you are one of the tax evaders, it is better to check whether you are on the IRB Travel Blacklist or not. It is wiser to check and confirm before you proceed with your travel arrangement.
You can check for the IRB Travel blacklist on Immigration Travel Query System. All that you need to do is key in your 12 digits Malaysian Identity Card Number (NRIC).
From the reply, you will know whether you’re valid to travel or had been restricted to do so.
If there is no restriction, you will see the result as below:
Checking result:
No restriction
If your name is under the IRB blacklist, you will see the reply to inform you to further check at the Immigration offices.
There are high possibilities that you are blacklisted. Thus, you must contact the Immigration Department for further information.
Final words
Paying taxes is part of our duties as Malaysian citizens. Do make sure you file your yearly tax accordingly, to avoid being blacklisted by IRB.
