It Is Not How Much You Make but How Much You Save Matter

A hand putting a coin in a blue piggy bank

Would you agree when I said that it is not how much you make but how much you save matter?

Why it is not how much you make but how much you save matter

For example, you can have a monthly income of RM10,000. But, if you spend all your income of RM10,000, you have nothing left.

On the other hand, maybe my monthly income is only RM4,000. But if I manage to save 10% of my monthly income, in one year, I will save RM4,800.

And if I continue to save 10% and invest my savings, in a few years time, I will see quite a substantial amount in my saving.

And for your case, even if your monthly salary increased to RM20,000, but somehow you still can’t control your spending habit and spend all RM20,000 then you will have RM0 savings.

I know there are cases, whereby a person makes RM10,000 per month, he spend it all. And worse, he still borrows his future money (credit cards, personal loans) and continues spending.

The perfect situation versus an actual situation

Of course, the perfect situation would be, one able to earn a big income and at the same time, consistently save a portion from his income.

Nowadays, I understand that it’s not easy to save a certain portion of our monthly income. But, it still can be done. With strong determination and proper self-discipline, you will be able to do it.

Do not be too hard on yourself, start by saving a small percentage and when you feel more comfortable, slowly increase the percentage of savings. In a few months time, you will be amazed at the amount saved.

Final thoughts

In summary, a different individual has a different view. At the moment, from my personal point of view, it is not how much you make matter but how much you save matter most.

Nevertheless, always look for ways to increase your income. Because you can only save more when your income allows you to do so.
