How to Check SOCSO Number in 2023? (4 ways)

Your SOCSO aka PERKESO number is actually your IC (Identity Card) Number issued by the Malaysia National Registration Department or commonly known as the NRIC number (12-digit, without the hyphen (-)). For example, 123456789123.

How to check SOCSO number in 2023?

Here are the 4 ways you check your SOCSO number.

1. FAQ on the SOCSO website

Firstly, you may refer to FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) on the SOCSO website. On the SOCSO FAQ, it is stated that the SOCSO number is Malaysia’s NRIC number.

You may refer to the screenshot from SOCSO FAQ on the SOCSO registration number below.

If you wish, you may visit the SOCSO FAQ website and refer to question number 24.

2. SOCSO Chatbot Ask Hanna

Secondly, you may refer to SOCSO Chatbot Ask Hanna. The Chatbot also stated clearly that the SOCSO number is your NRIC number.

You may try out chatting and checking with SOCSO Chatbot. Hanna is quite helpful on matters related to SOCSO.

3. Call SOCSO customer careline

Next, you may call SOCSO customer careline at 1300 22 8000 (Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm) to get your SOCSO number. Do visit the SOCSO website for updated details on their customer careline contact number and operation hours.

For your information, I have tried calling SOCSO customer careline myself. Upon some verification, the friendly customer service gave me my SOCSO number (that is my 12-digit MyKad number) in less than one minute.

During the verification, customer service did ask for my personal details such as my full name and NRIC or MyKad number.

4. Refer to the salary slip

Lastly, you may check your SOCSO number by referring to your salary slip. Usually, our salary slip has an EPF number and SOCSO number printed on it.

If it is your first employment, you may refer to your Human Resources (HR) department for verification of the SOCSO number. Your employer also will need to register you with SOCSO before you can have a SOCSO number.

As mentioned above, you can verify your SOCSO number online through the methods below:

Is the SOCSO number the same as the PERKESO number?

Yes, the SOCSO number is the same as the PERKESO number. SOCSO (Social Security Organization) is in English while PERKESO (Pertubuhan Keselamatan Sosial) is in Bahasa Melayu.

Why I don’t have a SOCSO number?

You don’t have a SOCO number most probably because you are not registered with SOCSO. You must be registered with SOCSO to have a SOCSO number.

As mentioned above, the SOCSO number is your 12-digit IC number also known as NRIC or MyKad number, without the hyphen (-).

How to check a foreign worker’s SOCSO number?

First, you must register the foreign worker with SOCSO. During registration, SOCSO shall generate a Foreign Workers Social Security Number (FWSS) for the foreign worker.

The FWSS is a 12-digit number and shall be used for all matters related to SOCSO.

What is SOCSO or PERKESO?

Other than the Employee Provident Fund (EPF), all employees and employers in Malaysia are required to contribute to the Social Security Organization (SOCSO). Or known as Pertubuhan Keselamatan Social (PERKESO) in Bahasa Melayu.

SOCSO provides protection to its member in terms of medical and cash benefits, which include work-related injuries, illness and disabilities, accidents, and death at the workplace.

So, just like EPF, SOCSO plays an important role for all Malaysian employees.
