Check PTPTN Blacklist Using These 4 Simple Ways

Text on the wall with words student debt ruined me.

In this post, I will share 4 ways you can check the PTPTN blacklist.

To start with, let me ask you 2 questions. Firstly, are you a PTPTN (Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional) borrower? Secondly, have you graduated?

If your answer is Yes to both questions, my next question would be “Have you started paying your PTPTN study loan”?

I hope your answer is Yes too. Else, you might get blacklisted by PTPTN.

Because if you get blacklisted by PTPTN, your name will be under Travel Blacklist too. This means that you are not allowed to travel outside of Malaysia.

PTPTN borrowers who failed to pay will be under the PTPTN blacklist

Let’s imagine you and your family had been preparing for the dream winter vacation in Hokkaido, Japan.

While at the International Departure immigration clearing gate, you steadily handed in your NRIC and passport.

Next, you received the shock of your life when the officer tells you that your name is blacklisted and you are not allowed to leave the country.

Then, you got angry, frustrated, ashamed and devastated.

From that experience, you can have all the feelings but it is useless. Because you will need to make arrangements to settle your PTPTN study loan.

How to check if you are on the PTPTN blacklist?

So, to avoid this from happening, you must check with PTPTN if you are under the PTPTN blacklist.

Hence, I share 4 ways below to check if you are under the PTPTN blacklist:

1. From the Immigration Department Portal

The first option is to check from the official Immigration Department Portal through Sistem Semakan Perjalanan Imigresen or SSPI.

Then, all you need to do is to enter your 12 digit NRIC numbers (without the dash).

If you see the status is Tiada Halangan (No restriction), it means you are not barred from leaving the country.

2. From the official PTPTN website

And the second option is to check the official PTPTN Blacklist from the PTPTN website.

3. Call PTPTN Careline

Next, the third option is to Call PTPTN Careline at 03-2193 3000 (operation hour: Monday to Friday, from 9 am – 5 pm).

4. Visit the PTPTN office or Immigration Department office

Finally, the last option is to visit your nearest PTPTN office or Immigration Department office.

Final thoughts

If you suspect your name is under the PTPTN blacklist, I suggest it is best to call PTPTN Careline or walk into your nearest PTPTN office.

Of course, the best would be to start paying your PTPTN study loan.

Lastly, if you are not able to do so, talk and find a solution with PTPTN officers.

Latest Updates

Since the middle of 2018, PTPTN had removed the blacklisted PTPTN borrowers. But, PTPTN borrowers who didn’t pay according to the schedule might be listed under CCRIS.

You may find more details on the PTPTN website, under Bayaran Balik Pinjaman Pendidikan. Then, scroll further down, and look for ‘CCRIS‘ where you’ll find a list of frequently asked questions under Penyenaraian Peminjam Dalam CCRIS.
