My 2014 IRB Overpaid Tax Refund

A white calculator with the word TAX on the calculator screen.

For this post, I am going to share about my 2014 IRB overpaid tax refund.

To start with, I submitted my 2014 income tax filing via e-Filing on 26 May 2015. And I have access to tax paid through my monthly tax deduction (MTD).

By the middle of July 2015, I have not received any emails or notifications from IRB with regards to my overpaid tax refund.

So, in the middle of August 2015, I filed a complaint to IRB through their website, to enquire about the status of my overpaid tax refund.

On the next working day, I received a reply from the IRB officer. In her email, she informed me that she had submitted my case to the local IRB in Kuching for further processing.

And it will require 14 days before I can expect any reply from them.

Then, about one week later, I saw IRB made the transfer to my bank account.

To be honest, I am quite impressed with the speed of IRB to process my overpaid tax refund upon my inquiry.

In fact, I do believe that my complaint somehow did expedite the overpaid tax refund process.

For those of you in the same situation as me, I suggest you file a complaint to IRB through the IRB website.

Alternatively, you can go to the IRB official website. Look for Feedback -> Customer Feedback Form -> Taxation Inquiry -> Tax Refund.

You will need to fill in the form. So, make sure you have your tax return details with you.
