For this post, I am going to share my thought on donations as part of financial planning.
Donations as parts of financial planning
If you read financial planning books or articles, you will find that most authors include donations as part of financial planning.
But, I do understand. As wage-earners, we often find the income not even sufficient for us.
So, how to spare the limited money for someone else? Especially those who are not close to us? Or those we don’t even know?
Actually, the donation amount need not be a huge amount. It can be a small sum because you can never imagine that a small amount could mean life to someone else.
But, it must be a sincere donation with the purpose to share our wealth with the rest especially those who are less fortunate than us. It is one of the ways to be grateful for the wealth we received, and in return, we share it with others.
Where can we donate in Malaysia?
In Malaysia, we can donate to various charities and organizations. The most common way would be donating to our religion centre, such as:
- Mosques
- Churches
- Temples
- any other religion centres throughout the country
Other than our religion centre, we also can consider donating to various non-profit organizations in Malaysia.
Among them:
- old folks homes
- orphanages
- National Cancer Society Malaysia
- MERCY Malaysia
- World Vision Malaysia
- Tzu Chi Malaysia
- Salvation Army Malaysia
In fact, the above is just a few of the organization where we can donate our money to those in need.
Instead of reaching for those far and unknown, one can also look around the nearby society. There must be someone who needs our donation. Even an RM1 donation will put a big smile on their face.
Final thoughts
Now, with the power of technology and internet banking, it is really easy to donate by transferring funds through online banking.
If you have never do any donation before, try it once and share with me how you feel about it.
