A Good Nursing Home in Kuching

Caring hand holding aging hand at nursing home.

In this post, I will share my view on a good nursing home located in Kuching.

A good nursing home in Kuching

In June 2014, my husband and I visited a friend at a nursing home in Kuching, Kenneth Care Home.

Surprisingly the nursing home is really like a home. The only difference is that there are too many pairs of the shoe at the entrance compared to an actual home.

And also, there are more beds compared to a normal home.

Most of the residents are senior citizens. Some are those who have been discharged from the hospital but need 24 hours care such as stroke patients.

We’ve also heard that some are temporary residents who need additional support and care while they are recovering from sickness.

Services offered

We chit chat with the nurses at the centre. The nurses seem to be quite nice and are quite professional at their work.

They take the turn to stay overnight at the nursing home so that they are able to provide 24 hours care for the residents.

They also provide daycare services for the elderly. The nursing home (the 5th branch) which already started its operation somewhere in early 2016 is spacious, clean, hygienic and properly taken care of.

How much is the fee?

In terms of the fees, I think it is quite reasonable with the services provided.

Also, the fees depend on the type of services needed. Those interested can visit their website or call the mobile phone on Kenneth Care Home website for further inquiries.

Final thoughts

Personally, I think this is a good quality nursing home. I have to admit that nowadays, a nursing home is a need in most developing cities including Kuching.

Just like childcare centres where we send our young kids while we are at work, similarly, we also need a good place for our parents, parents-in-law or a loved one to be well taken care of while we are at work.

Mainly because our lives have changed so much since the past 10 to 20 years ago where usually there is a stay-at-home spouse to take care of the young and elderly.

For those of you who are interested to know more about this nursing home, please visit their official website. Or, you may check out my sharing on other nursing home and home care services in Kuching.

Lastly, feel free to share if you know of any other good nursing home in Kuching.

Special notes

This is my personal experience and I am not being paid to advertise for their services. My main purpose is to share with fellow Kuchingites in case they are looking for a nursing home for their loved ones in Kuching.

I understand how tough it is to find a reliable place for our loved ones during challenging times.

  1. Don’t judge a book by its cover.
Most Kuching nursing home only talk but rarely do the walk, services offered sound very impressive. Check-in your love one into a nursing home, you will then un-cover how inaccurate is the information you have received.
Nursing home is full of surprises, it is like opening up a can of worms once you have check-in your love one into one of them.
I have the first hand experience of putting my love one into a nursing home in Kuching. This is the 3rd nursing home I have moved my love one to, and I come to conclude most nursing home give false information to attract customer.
Ever wonder why there are so many nursing homes, and new ones keep on popping up?
Nursing Home in Kuching are not governed, and there is no compliance body. Most nursing home owners are in purely for business/money, and for staff it is just a job. There is no love, compassion and stimulation; patient going in to waste their life and wait for their time and staff spending time on smartphone rather than patients.
It is high time the Sarawak government have this industry regulated.

    1. Hi Ann, thank you for your comment and sharing.
I visited the centre in 2010, that was about 10 years ago. Personally, I think it is rather hard to find a place who can provide love, compassion and stimulation as what they advertise. Even our maid who took care of my late mother-in-law can’t show love or compassion towards her. But, I do agree when you said the industry needs regulations.

Hope that you will find a reliable nursing home for your loved one. Thanks again for your sharing.

    2. Hi Ann,

I fully agreed and conquer with what you mentioned in your post above. As you mentioned in Kuching there is no rule regulating those nursing homes in Kuching.
I think the ministry of welfare, KKM and others should come together to regulate all the nursing home operators in Sarawak.
