No Waiver for RM50 Credit Card Service Tax

Yesterday I received my latest PB credit card statement. There was a charge of RM50 for credit card service tax.

Thinking not so willing to pay for the RM50 service tax, I contacted the bank trying to request a waiver for my credit card service tax. Since I failed to contact them through their customer care line, I emailed them instead.

The reply was very prompt. Today, the customer service replied to me to inform me that there will be no waiver for the RM50 credit card service tax.

So, no choice. I still need to pay the RM50 service tax. Fortunately, my Cash MegaBonus is enough to cover for the RM50.

To think positively, this is a good starting effort to prevent us to carry too many credit cards. Imagine, if I have 5 cards, annually, I will need to set aside RM250 just for the credit card service tax.

I am wondering how about other banks. Do they charge you for the RM50 service tax or do they waive for you (when you request for a waiver)?

  1. Thanks Ching Ya, for dropping by… Hmmm.. maybe most of the banks already had agreement not to waive for the RM50 service tax 🙁

  2. if i'm not mistaken, my MBFCard waived the service charge for me while the others, either no waiver or can use reward point in exchange.

  3. Hi Hiewjc, yes… banks become smarter and smarter… try to keep the minimum that we need… Thanks for dropping by. Yes, definitely will visit your blog.

  4. Hi Zen, that's an extra service by MBFCard. I heard from a friend that among all the cards she has, she still prefer MBFCard. Due to the good service offered and also privacy issue(no disclosure of card holder information to 3rd party). Thanks for the sharing 🙂

  5. Hi Alan, Oh! really? hmm… "Not" allowed… I guess that make sense… Another friend of mine also said that there's no waiver for her credit cards..

  6. MBF card is the worst card that I ever had. They promised to waive my 2 years annual fees but charge me for the 3rd & 4th years annual fees at 18 months. It took me 4 to 5 months to cancel it as they still mail me the account statement despite I cancelled my card. Bad card…not going to use it for the rest of my life

  7. Anonymous, Hmmm…. that's really bad.. and 4-5 months to cancel is really something I can't accept. I think their system not communicating 😛 Be careful with any plastic cards.

  8. Yes,thIS is the government plan to collect more taxes form us .So its best to cancel your credit and maintian only 2 .

  9. Hi Anonymous, hmmm… it's also a way to control the people from spending away their future money (have to think positive :p)… Thanks for dropping by 🙂

  10. Hi Yan, Im using c.card from bank A for all auto debit: insurance, instalment, investment and purchases for more than RM2K/month and they never waive the RM50…. Im holding another c.card from bank B, only for petrol spend RM200 each month and this bank B waived the RM50 for me…funny? i think this is their tactics….. from Vivien

  11. Hi Vivien, that's quite funny. Are you planning to terminate card A? But, so far, very seldom bank will waive the RM50 service tax. Maybe their tactics to win more credit card holder or at least to keep the existing card holder 🙂
