How to Make Full PTPTN Study Loan Settlement?

One of my targets this year is to make a full settlement for my PTPTN study loan.

And I am so happy to announce that today I had made full PTPTN repayment and had settled my PTPTN study loan. In this post, I will be sharing how to make a full PTPTN study loan settlement.

Actually, If I follow my study loan repayment schedule, I still have another 5 more months to go. But, I decided to settle my study loan earlier so that I can clear one of my debts.

So, what is the process to make a full PTPTN study loan settlement? When I first made my repayment many years ago, I paid through direct debit from my monthly salary (Potongan Gaji). Then, I paid by sending a monthly cheque to the PTPTN headquarter.

After I have my online banking, I found it is more convenient to pay my study loan online. Even though there is an RM1 processing fee for each transaction, it is still worth it.

Earlier this month, I logged on to my PTPTN online statement and printed out my latest statement. Today, I brought along my statement to my local PTPTN office in Kuching.

And of course, I brought along my cash as well to settle my study loan. I share the rest of the procedure below.

How to make full PTPTN study loan settlement

The process to make full PTPTN repayment is as below:

1. Get a ticketing number from the entrance to see the officer at the counter. I told her that I wish to make full PTPTN repayment. She told me she will need to check from her online system for the rough figure of my study loan balance. Upon her checking, the figure is similar to my online statement.
2. Then, I was instructed to fill a form. This form is something like an application to know the actual balance for my PTPTN (after deduction/interest fee/whatever other charges). The officer at the counter brought the form to another inside her office so that this officer can contact PTPTN headquarter to verify my actual study loan balance (after discount/interest charges/misc).
3. After waiting for about 10 minutes, she got back to me and passed me a document indicating my actual ‘confirmed balance’ which I need to pay. I am happy to see a 20% discount* as well.
4. Then, I filled in the payment slip and waited for my turn to make the full payment at the payment collection counter.
5. Once I made the full payment, the officer gave me an official receipt. The officer said PTPTN will email me a statement to confirm I had made the full payment.

The process is simple and quick.

I think I spent about 30 minutes at the PTPTN Kuching Office. Actually, on that day, the PTPTN office is packed with many customers. I consider their service is excellent. And the officers are all helpful, nice and friendly.

Tips on making full PTPTN settlement

Just a note to any of you who wish to make a full PTPTN study loan settlement, please go to your nearest PTPTN branch and get the actual full outstanding amount.

Or, at least email or contact PTPTN headquarter to get the final figure. This is to avoid any wrong amount. This is also the main reason why I went to the PTPTN Kuching instead of paying my full payment online. To me, the official receipt is very important.
